Update

This post is all update this time around. First - lets talk about the Demo. I plan on leaving up this demo indefinitely, but I won't be making continual updates to it past today. I've finally gotten it to be a good representation of the game. It does include about 1/3rd of the total content I intend to sell here, which feels like a good amount. I'm hoping people can try it and if they like it they'll buy the rest of the game. That means that the demo itself contains 15 unique levels. From those 15 levels 3 are randomly selected to construct a run for the player. I keep track of which levels the player has already finished and make sure to not serve those up again until everything is complete. I've also included 3 items that can be unlocked. Dash, Jump Boost, and the Remote Control. These items are meant to make it easier to complete your runs, and give you a bit of a speed boost. I'm also keeping track of your Run Times, which are now visible in the HUD. The best run time is displayed on the Save card from the save selection screen. Hopefully that gives a pretty good idea of what I'm shooting for with the full game. Just more levels, more items, and longer runs.

I've also changed the difficulties up a bit. It used to be the case that the difficulty only changed how fast the lava was rising, but now there's a more obvious difference between the 3 levels. On Hard mode, its the same game it always was. You have to unlock all the items, and if you die your run starts over. On Normal, you still have to unlock your items, but you can choose to continue your run or start over if a particular level is giving you trouble. Finally on Easy, you start with all the items unlocked and can choose to continue your run or abandon it. I'm hoping this gives players the opportunity to see more of the content and finish each of the levels.

This update to the demo was just published and is downloadable now so go check it out!

As for the rest of the game - now that I've got a pretty good base to build upon, I'm going to be focusing on the remaining 30 levels and 6 items. I've got a good start on all of that so I'm confident I'll have this game released by year end. All total that means the game will have 45 unique levels, which will be arranged into runs of 9 randomly chosen levels. Each of those 9 levels will intruduce a new item and a new obstacle or world effect, increasing the difficulty. Again the game keeps track of times so you can continue to improve your run times and try out different items to see which produce the fastest times for you!

That's it for this week. I'll be on vacation for a week and a half here so I won't have an update next week. But hopefully the week after that I can share a final release date and what my plans are for a few content updates post release.

Thanks again for reading and following along!
